Webcam Software for Windows

Webcam is an important tool/part of any laptop or computer. But with recent windows operating system like windows 7 and windows vista, they don’t having webcam viewer as we used to have in windows xp operating system. So we can’t have view of our built-in webcam and also we can’t take pictures using it. Now, on Internet there are few webcam viewer applications available, but who knows if they are virus free or not. Better be safe instead of downloading some unknown software. So what to do?? For the same thing I have good solution using which we can have view of our webcam and also we can take our snap shots using webcam.

Everyone knows about VLC Player software. It is software which people used to play videos of any formats on their computer. It is quite famous video player, so I don’t think I need to explain more about it. Now this software can be our webcam viewer and solve our problem. Yes, we can use this software as webcam viewer and also take snap shot of view. Let’s see how we can do it.

How to do it? (Webcam viewer for windows 7 and other operating system)
  • First open VLC Player on your computer. (You required VLC Player for this trick)
  • Then click on file and from the menu select Open Capture Device. (As shown in below image)
  • Then you will get another window like below image.
  • Just click on Play button to start your webcam. Just wait for few seconds and you will able to see your webcam view on the screen of VLC Player.
  • To take a screen shot, click on Video tab from above tabs and click on Snapshot to take a snap shot of the view. That picture will be store in the Pictures library.
So this is it. Like this way you can use this video player as your webcam. So you don’t need any extra software for getting view of your webcam. Almost all people used to use this software as their video player so they can use it for multipurpose. Hope this information will be helpful to you. Have fun.
